Take the side walls out of a 40ft container and you remove most of what holds the roof up. This unit deals with that by keeping a single supporting post at the centre of each side. It is a small intrusion in exchange for a container that opens along both flanks rather than one, and it is the reason the structure stays square and the doors keep shutting properly over the years.
The doors themselves swing through 180 or 270 degrees, so they fold right back against the container body and out of the way of a forklift approach. Opening is to the full width. With both sides open you can see and reach the entire contents at once, which means individual items get sorted and pulled without unloading everything in front of them.
Doors and security
The cargo doors close onto locking rods that engage at multiple points along the top and bottom of the container, pulling the whole leaf tight against its seals rather than just latching it at the edge. That is what makes an opening this large weather resistant and leak proof. Locking cams and cam retainers hold everything in position, and the door handle brackets carry locking points that take additional padlocks. The unit is also compatible with a proprietary cargo door lock if you want that level of security.
