You can load from whichever end the yard allows, drive a pallet truck straight through, and retrieve something stored at the far end without shifting everything else first.
That through-access also makes the unit easy to divide. Fit a partition wall in the middle and you have two independent 20ft stores with their own lockable entrances, which is a common arrangement where two departments, two trades or two tenants share a yard.
